Texas Chapter to Meet at the Houston Museum of Natural Science

I hope that each of you will have a wonderful holiday and year end, wherever in the world you all may be traveling. Thanks for being such a great chapter this past year.

2013 will be here before we know it, so I wanted to remind you all about our January meeting and start requesting RSVPs. We are going to build on the chapter meeting enhancements that were made in 2012, and January’s meeting will be at an educational location in Houston – the Houston Museum of Natural Science. We have secured a conference room at the museum that the TCC has graciously agreed to fund for our meeting – thanks, Klaus Billep! Against the backdrop of dinosaur fossils, gems, and the Energy Hall, we are delighted that Philippe Theys (Silver) will be in town from France to be our featured speaker.

Next Member Meeting: January 12:

  • Featured Speaker and Topic: Philippe Theys (Silver) will discuss traveling without planes – investigating the future of TCC members without airlines. You can read more about Philippe on his Schlumberger web page: www.planetseed.com/node/21074.
  • Location: Houston Museum of Natural Science (www.hmns.org) – 5555 Hermann Park Dr., Houston, TX 77030. Meeting attendees will have access to view the permanent exhibits at the museum after the meeting.
  • Time: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Agenda: Member introductions, chapter update, featured speaker, 2013 meeting schedule reminder, group photo, networking
  • Lunch: We tried a “pick your lunch” approach at our last meeting based on the annual survey feedback. Although there were a few growing pains, most seemed to appreciate selecting their choice in advance so we will try this again. Bring a check or cash to pay for lunch – approximately $15 per person. When you do RSVP for the meeting, please provide your lunch selection that we’ll have catered by Melange Events – select a sandwich and a side that will be served with iced tea:
    • Choice of either sandwich:
      • Fresh Deli – Selection of either Black Forest Ham, Turkey Breast or Slow Roast Beef; with condiments, cheeses on Assorted Breads
      • Vegetarian – Avocado, Cucumber and Tomato Sandwich on sourdough, butter lettuce
    • Choice of side: black bean corn salad, Italian pasta salad, cucumber tomato salad, fresh fruit salad, or assorted chips
  • RSVP: For lunch planning purposes, please RSVP to me by Jan. 6
