Pam Barrus – The Thames Path
Pam has been a member since 1987, a board member since 2004, and served as president 2012-2013. She loves the travail in travel and long hard journeys, usually traveling alone – local buses from California to Argentina, the Silk Road through the Stans, or down the length of Africa. She also loves long distance walking.
Her presentation is hiking the UK’s Thames Path, a 184-mile hike from the source of the River Thames near Kemble in Gloucestershire to the Barrier east of Greenwich. Always following alongside the river, the path meanders past some 2,000 years of history from ancient churches, abbeys and castles to historically significant sites such as Oxford, Runnymede, Hampton Court Palace, and, of course, the breadth of London. The Thames Path is one of the National Trails of the UK.
Mail a check for $37 payable to Tim Carlson, 781 West Dry Creek Road, Healdsburg, CA 95448. The check should arrive by Sept. 8. Indicate your choice of filet of sole almondine, cross ribs of beef bordelaise, or vegetarian pasta.
