Hello World Travelers,
I am pleased to announce that Gord Miller, one of Canada’s finest and well-known sports broadcasters, will be the featured speaker for our Travelers’ Century Club Canada Zoom call on Sunday, Feb. 28, at noon EST.
Take note that the meeting has been moved to Sunday, Feb. 28, from Saturday, Feb. 27.
Please RSVP that you would like to join the call with an email response to me and I will send you the Zoom call link.
Gord Miller has traveled the world for decades, as a commentator and broadcaster providing the play-by-play of many iconic moments of Canadian sports history.
Among his long list of broadcast accomplishments, with destinations around the globe, Gord has also covered dozens of IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, the PyeongChang South Korea, Olympics working for NBC, World Cups, World Series, World Figure Skating Championships and the London Olympics in 2012 where he called track and field events. This is just a snapshot of Gord’s travels which he may recount for us.
I asked Gord what he intends to center his TCC Canada talk on and he said: “Bizarre, funny and amazing tales from the road.”
What are some of the destinations he will recount? “Russia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Australia, South Korea.”
An interesting example of Gord’s travels I was able to find:
The whirlwind trip that would see Jerome Iginla, Gord Miller, Jayna Hefford and Marie Philip Poulin join Prime Minister Stephen Harper on a trip to Kandahar, Afghanistan, to visit Canadian troops stationed there. After the visit to the 100-year-old Olympic Stadium and a dinner with Harper in Athens, the group flew to Qatar, then hopped on a military transport to Kandahar.
We are very fortunate to have Gord as a speaker, I thank him in advance and I look forward to welcoming him as he joins Canada’s most traveled people on Feb. 28. Don’t forget to RSVP!
