Whether you were a scuba diver or not, everyone seemed to learn something. The 18 in attendance joined us from Austin, Dallas metro, Houston metro, San Antonio and Seabrook. We also had two of our newest members join us – Walter and Margaret. Special thanks to our featured speaker, Karin Sinniger (Gold), for sharing her Dive the World experiences and knowledge.
Karin has dived in 111 countries as of the day of the meeting, and if the weather cooperates, she will have dived 115 by July 23. From all of her research, that dive count makes her the most dived person in the world. An accomplishment indeed, but that shouldn’t overshadow her depth of knowledge on diving and political issues all over the world, along with the numerous and dangerous adventures that she has experienced. She was close to a walking encyclopedia and we were honored to have her travel from Angola to join us.
We enjoyed celebrating Cynthia Cave attaining Silver Status of 150 countries! She hit this new country count when she was recently visiting French Guiana. Congrats!
Special thanks to our TCC Chairman, Klaus Billep, for the new chapter projector and speaker gifts for our meetings, along with the TCC patches that were given to attendees.
Our around-the-room sharing of either favorite dive stories or parameters/benefits of frequent flier programs or experiences included: Jim‘s Dead Sea insights, Sue‘s mindfulness around sharks, Karin‘s tip on British Airways for best luggage deals, Tom‘s pick for diving off Bonaire, Jeff’s suggestion to stick with alliances like Sky Team for the best deals, Bill‘s “dive” in the Arctic waters, Walter and Margaret’s bravery during the Hawaii tsunami, Terry‘s round-the-world and spontaneous trip ideas, Cynthia‘s favorite snorkeling at Xell-Ha, Jordan‘s Mozambique honeymoon scare, Wendell and Pat‘s clear lagoon suggestion, Kay‘s Seychelles boating adventure, Mark‘s turtle diving, and Sylvia‘s 80/80 preference.
Our next meeting will be held in Dallas on October 13, so mark your calendars for a 90 Degrees North presentation by Bill Jones (Gold). I’ll send out logistics and RSVP requests one month in advance of the meeting.
