Family and friends celebrated Jules Diebenow’s “Life Full of Adventure” on April 13, 2013. He died in March in Palau of heart complications, following a morning and afternoon of snorkeling. He was born 83 years ago in Portland, OR, but grew up in Bremerton, WA. He majored in accounting at the University of Washington. Soon after graduation he entered the Navy at the close of the Korean War. His experiences in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and soon afterwards crossing the Atlantic to independently explore many of the European countries by auto, sparked a passion for foreign destinations and educational travel. So he abandoned his trained profession as a CPA to develop international travel opportunities for affinity and educational organizations. He excelled in planning and executing group tours and in 1967 he established his own business, TravelTime, in Laguna Hills, CA, catering to retirement communities. He and his son sold the family business in 2003. During his lifetime Jules visited over 200 countries and enjoyed the camaraderie of colleagues in the Travelers’ Century Club. He was TCC President in 1995-96.
