Fourteen members were present at the University Park Country Club as the West Florida (Sarasota Chapter) held a luncheon meeting on March 27. Four were attending for the first time. New members included Dr. Nicholas Zakov, Amanda Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Townsend Mink.
We again had an enjoyable afternoon as the group shared their traveling experiences and provided good suggestions for future adventures.
Last May we were on a cruise which made a stop in Cape Town, South Africa, where one of our members, Marijke Knipscheer, joined the cruise. We enjoyed reminiscing about our experiences in Togo and Benin as well as other ports on the African West Coast.
Dave Macarthy came from the Naples area – almost a two-hour drive. And prior attendees Katherine and Lawrence Nutt, Helen Bingo and a friend, Frank DeSantis, also attended the luncheon.
Ken Chamberlain, who has attended every luncheon was accompanied by his wife, Barbara, for her first meeting.
Many of our group are striving to get a few more new countries in their travel log, and most admitted that quality is most important.
Most of us are on our way to Asia or Europe during the next several months and look forward to sharing their experiences at our next meeting in the Fall. The meeting date will be in a future edition of The Centurian.
