Hello World Travelers,
I am delighted to report that our Sept. 21 meeting featured a terrific presentation by our very own Steve and Wendy Johnston, who spoke about their adventures in Iceland earlier this year. It was lively, informative, and featured some really great photographs of Reykjavik, geysers, waterfalls and even some elves! Steve and Wendy pointed out how easy it is to get to Iceland with direct flights from Toronto to Reykjavik taking just over four hours.
Our thanks go out to Wendy and Steve for a fine job guiding us around the “island of fire and ice.”
The sushi lunch (and cookies baked by Jane Shaver) fit the Nordic theme nicely. As with all of our meetings, members shared their travel experiences with each other. From Tom Humberstone just returning from Chad, Cameroon and Ethiopia, the Smiths‘ visit to Svalbard (Spitsbergen) and Alan and Anne Shaver’s visit to Miramar, among many others, there were lots of passionate travel conversations!
Our next get-together will be a brunch meeting at Rick and Jane Shaver’s home starting at noon on Dec. 7, 2013. Everyone is encouraged to bring a favorite picture of a favorite travel day or moment to share with the group.
As you’ll see from the pictures above and below, we had some fun including a mannequin in some of our TCC member photos!
Best wishes to you all, and happy traveling.
