The Indiana Chapter had another excellent meeting on Saturday, Nov. 22. The activities began with an enjoyable reception and lunch, during which time the members exchanged travel stories and anecdotes.
After a fine lunch, we heard and saw an excellent presentation titled “On the Road Again, and Again, and Again” by David Cook, who is the co-coordinator of the local chapter of the national organization, American Pilgrims on the Camino. The organization consists of people who have walked all or a part of the 500-mile Camino de Santiago in Spain, which is often referred to as a life-altering adventure. He responded to numerous questions after the presentation.
Gregg Schmidt, TCC Silver Member, provided an update on TCC countries and membership information as well as other travel-related news. Charles Merkel, who is the St. Louis Chapter Coordinator, gave a report on the TCC 60th anniversary cruise.
The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2015, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Seasons 52 restaurant. It is located at 8650 Keystone Crossing, which is close to Interstate 465 on the north side of Indianapolis. TCC members and other avid travelers are invited. RSVPs should be sent to frank_basile@sbcglobal.net or phoned to Frank at (317) 578-3585.
The presentation at the upcoming meeting will be titled Russia: world’s longest train journey on Trans-Siberian Railway and a road trip through the North Caucasus. This exciting program will include slides and will be presented by Dr. Jagannathan Srinivasaraghavan (Ashok Van). Dr. Van recently returned from this trip, is a Diamond member of TCC (visited more than 300 countries), and presented a program on Libya for the chapter last year.
