The Indiana TCC Chapter had another excellent meeting on Saturday, March 14, 2015. The activities began with an enjoyable reception and lunch, during which time the members exchanged travel stories and anecdotes. After a fine lunch, we heard and saw an excellent presentation titled Russia: World’s Longest Train Journey on Trans-Siberian Railway and a Road Trip Through the North Caucasus. This exciting program included slides and was presented by Dr. Jagannathan Srinivasaraghavan (Ashok Van). Dr. Van recently returned from this trip, is a Diamond member of TCC (visited more than 300 countries), and presented a program on Libya for the chapter last year.

Gregg Schmidt, TCC Silver Member, provided an update on TCC countries and membership information as well as other travel-related news.

The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2015, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Seasons 52 restaurant. It is located at 8650 Keystone Crossing, which is close to I-465 on the north side of Indianapolis. TCC members and other avid travelers are invited. RSVPs should be sent to frank_basile@sbcglobal.net or phoned to Frank at (317) 578-3585.

The program will be presented by Sven Schumacher, the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany. Here is his description of the program:

I will take the audience on the “Visionaries and Pioneering Thinkers” route through Germany. The journey will begin in Berlin to explore visionary city planning, see the revolutionary design of the Bauhaus School in Dessau, and learn about the revolutionary thinking of Martin Luther, who in the 16th century not only reformed the Church, but changed the world forever. In 2015, people around the world are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Reunification of Germany, and in 2017 they will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The journey will take the audience for 750 kilometers to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Berlin, Wittenberg, Dessau, Leipzig, Weimar, Erfurt, and the Wartburg Castle. It will conclude in Frankfurt.
