Report From the April 2015 Western Canada Meeting in Vancouver

Hello World Travelers,

We had a another great get together in beautiful downtown Vancouver in April. Uniting at Rodney’s Oyster House, we had an afternoon filled with stories, discussions about the TCC website and social media direction, and we concluded with a pub style quiz, as inspired by our UK Chapter Coordinator, Donna Marsh. Global BC News sent a cameraman to our event to capture our story, and apparently it was aired on that Sunday evening news. (No archive available from producer).

Tom shared stories about his recent trip to Ireland, Northern Ireland and England. The highlight of the trip was his son’s convocation from Oxford University with an MBA. Patti, from Vancouver Island, probably had the quote of the day: “I swear it is easier to plan to travel halfway around the world, compared to coming to a TCC meeting.” So true, as it takes her up to six hours to get to each meeting using cars, ferries, and public transportation. And facing a good dilemma, most of our chapter members were traveling at the time of this meeting.

The next 2015 meeting will be on Saturday, Aug. 22, in Calgary (time and location TBD). Guest speaker Max Johnson (chapter member from Winnipeg, and owner of Great Canadian Travel Company) will speak about “Epic travel from Suriname, Guyana, and French Guiana to Cabo Verde to São Tomé e Principe.”
