Our speaker Arlene Segal has a decades long interest in conservation and the environment. Her travel has taken her to see animals in their natural habitat, to explore new remote places and to learn about other cultures. Her account of sailing to the North Pole in 2005 on a nuclear-powered icebreaker through very thick ice was a very different experience than occurs now because of climate change and shrinking arctic ice. Arlene also spoke about islands of the South Atlantic, as well as Easter Island.
