Fifty TCC members and their guests gathered at the historic Tam O’Shanter Inn in Los Angeles, CA on June 19 as popular presenter Bill Altaffer shared his adventures and fascinating photographs of The Altay, the mountain range in Central and East Asia where Russia, Mongolia, China and Kazakhstan all converge.
Mixing history, humor and harrowing encounters, Altaffer took the crowd on a virtual tour he led with “my last two remaining clients,” exploring destinations definitely off the beaten track.
As TCC’s original group, founded in Los Angeles in 1954, our Southern California chapter is now officially known as the Charter Chapter as so designated by the TCC Board of Directors. Appropriately, we gathered in the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles owned by the same family in the same location–celebrating 95 years the month we met.
Below are more photos from the June gathering.
