The TCC United Kingdom Chapter returned to the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, London for its autumn 2019 meeting on Sunday, Nov. 17. We thank our host, Angus Palmer, for inviting the TCC UK to the Club as he has been doing steadily for more than 13 years. There were 25 members in attendance, including several members who were attending their first meeting. It was also good to see many returning members. Our group included UK-based members and members from the Netherlands, Oman, Turks and Caicos, and the United States.
Our speaker was Karl Bolton, Lecturer in Tourism, Events and Management at London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism, University of West London. The topic, “When travel destinations become too popular: The Challenges of Over Tourism,” raised many relevant issues related to today’s travel considerations in many parts of the world.
Steven Owad Jones, a TCC member currently based in Oman was presented with his certificate for achieving travel to 150 TCC countries.
As usual, each member had the opportunity to discuss their own travels and to ask any questions. Many hints and tips were provided.
The overwhelming majority of members in attendance have expressed their preference to return to Doggett’s Coat and Badge for our Spring 2020 meeting. Date options will be announced by the end of December.
Best regards,
Donna Marsh
