August 2025 Canada Chapter Update

Derek Smith and his wife Joanne have been with us since the beginning, attending the very first TCC Canada meeting at Rick Shaver’s house 15 years ago in November 2010; also attending that inaugural meeting were members Steve and Wendy Johnson, Merrill Carmichael, Bob Bryant, Jane Shaver and visiting TCC Board Member Kevin Hughes.

Hello World Travelers,

Our second meeting of 2025 is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 20, at noon EST at the Hive offices – 950 Dupont St. Suite 300 in downtown Toronto.

Again, for those members who reside outside the southern Ontario region, we will be offering a virtual meeting option with a Zoom call scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start.

I look forward to receiving your RSVPs. Please let me know if you would like to attend in person or via Zoom. I will send out a link for the meeting as we get closer to the day.

Derek Smith is our featured speaker on Sept. 20, and as many of you know, he is a long-standing member of the TCC Canada Chapter and is the “Dad of Canada’s most traveled family”

Derek will be speaking about “The Art Of The Day Trip.” He will show us how easy it can be to add an extra day to your itinerary to include a nearby country or territory. He will provide tips and tricks to embark on fascinating day visits to destinations like Paraguay, Northern Cyprus, Mustique, Spanish Morocco, Montserrat, Serbia, Fujairah and Curaçao.

A couple event updates for you:

  • The next 2025 Canada Chapter meeting will be on Saturday, Nov.29.
  • The next Global TCC meeting will take place in Hanoi May 3-7, 2026. If you plan to attend, you’ll want to act quickly as the conference is almost 80% sold out! More info here »

I look forward to seeing everyone next month.
