Our “N” alphabet zoom picture program will be on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.. We ask that you send us your pictures before Sept. 6 so Mark can arrange their order. If you are going to screen share, great! It saves Mark time! ) If you’re traveling, send your pictures, when and where they were shot and any story about them. I will stand in for you. You don’t have to send pictures to join us, ask questions and watch others’ trip pictures. Contact us if you need the Zoom link.
A report on the August meeting at Lakewood: Kike Calvo, a 13 year photographer for National Geographic, gave a wonderful presentation. He presented many of his pictures illustrating his thoughts on making an unforgettable picture. As one of the emails I received said, “it is unusual to hear a photographer of his caliber doing a presentation.” Many of you didn’t realize that this was a two-night presentation. Kike is a member of TCC and the Explorers Club. The Explorers Club had scheduled him for Saturday night in Austin. Kike contacted me if I would like him to do a program for TCC in Houston. So Saturday morning Mark and I drove him to Austin and attended the Explorer Club meeting that evening. In Houston he had presented thoughts about making a photo, and in Austin he presented the influences that led him to photography. We had eight of our TCC members attend the meeting in Austin on Saturday.
We look forward to more collaborations with Explorers Club and Circumnavigators Club!
Several of our members who have recently taken an unusual trip have volunteered to give programs. We hope to show these programs within the next year. If anyone has contact with someone who could give an in-person program of interest to our members-please contact us. Travelers Century Club unfortunately doesn’t pay our performers.
