The Philadelphia Chapter met on May 19 at Moroccan/Mediterranean fusion restaurant Figs, with guest speaker Sherry Kumar discussing her organization, Eurocircle. The 14 members in attendance celebrated the chapter’s fourth anniversary with a Champagne toast, and a delicious three-course feast replete with mint tea and authentic delicacies. Sherry’s talk was right up our alley, with travel on the agenda: Eurocircle will be heading to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in September at the terrific price of $,1399 a person for an eight-day trip. - Sunday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. – Kanella, 10th and Spruce Streets, Cypriot cuisine, BYOB, vegetarian options. Guest speaker: Andy Perkins, manager at US Airways, who will speak about the merger with American Airlines.
- Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at 5 p.m. – Abyssinia, 229 S. 45th Street, Ethiopian cuisine, beer but no wine, vegetarian options. Guest speaker: Finnish Consul for Philadelphia, Kristina Mattila, on her role facilitating trade and general relations between the U.S. and her region.
