Northern California Chapter member Linda Drucker presented her recent trip to Colombia during our September 2022 meeting at the Basque Cultural Center in San Francisco. Joined by her partner Russell Jones and son Noah, they highlighted travels to Bogotá, Cartagena, Isla Baru and Medellin. Their discussion about art, food and Colombia’s political history was fascinating especially as this country is emerging into a prime tourist destination. Noah’s interest in Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar inspired the travelers to visit sites off the beaten path including Escobar’s homes, the location of his final shoot-out with police and grave site.
