Continuing our coverage of those vigorous TCC members who run marathons around the world, we feature Missouri (Kansas City) Area Coordinator Steve Fuller. And there’s more to come. It’s interesting that quite a few TCC members have been able to combine their travels with this energetic sport.

Steve, a North Kansas City judge, has run 175 marathons and has run one marathon each month for 47 months! His first attempt was in 1977. By 1986 he became the first American to run a marathon in all 50 states. He has run the 26.2-mile race on every continent. He ran the Mt. Everest marathon twice — in 1989 and 1999 — starting at 17,000 feet. He ran a Mongolian race around the largest lake, a 60-mile race starting at 4:00 am. He was in first place at the race at Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Besides the U.S., Steve has run marathons in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Austria Tanzania, Rwanda, Nepal, Mongolia, Macau, Vietnam, Australia, Antarctica and Greece.

In the next article in this series, we will feature the marathon accomplishments of Jay Foonberg from Beverly Hills, and Jenny McIver from Atlanta. We wrote about Gloria McCoy, Ed Sylvester and Rick Shaver in previous issues.
