Beth Belkonen shared photos and experiences of her 32-day voyage in April and May on an expedition ship, along the West Coast of Africa, from Cape Town to Marrakesh. There were 18 stops in 14 countries. Highlights were visits to slave prisons, UNESCO World Heritage sites, fetish markets, fishing villages and colonial ghost towns.

The next New York meeting on Saturday, Dec 13, at noon will feature a presentation by Susan Chan about the Galapagos Islands. Susan will talk about her time spent exploring and doing volunteer work at Isla San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands during a month-long journey in the footsteps fo Charles Darwin. Along the way she learned to snorkel, swim with sharks, do away with ot showers, and tame a classroom of six–to-eight-year-olds with non-existent Spanish skills.
