Breaking a new record in participation, 45 attendees from at least 11 countries joined the Central Europe Chapter Meeting in Salzburg in spring 2025. We listened to suspenseful presentations of fellow travelers, tried local beers at our “Stiegl” brewery meeting venue, and enjoyed this magnificent city during a challenging scavenger hunt on the next day — loads of fun!
Of course, additional gatherings took place before and after the meeting, offering the very best views over town and following in the footsteps of W.A. Mozart or the Sound of Music family.
Presentations included the history of Salzburg (local host Verena Tauchert), Iran (Patrick Dewilde) and North Korea (Joachim von zur Gathen), as well as hiking in Kazakhstan (Christian Eickmann) and up each country’s highest peak (Andreas Aschaber)! Moreover, our quiz wizard Reinhold Baer held the original “Fürst” Mozart balls in store for this event’s travel trivia champions.
Three members were honored: Jill Bussmann reached full-member status at age 11 (!) while Silver status was awarded to Verena Tauchert and Diamond status to Yvo Peeters.
The next Central Europe Chapter Meeting will be held in Essen, Germany, on Saturday, Sept. 6.
In 2026, we will skip our usual spring meeting because it would interfere with the TCC’s International Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam, on May 3-7.
