Oktoberfest Celebration for Philadelphia-Area TCC Members

Honorary Austrian Consul Harry Schaub with Pennsylvania Chapter Coordinator Jane Berryman

The Philadelphia Chapter met on Sunday, Sept. 25 to celebrate Oktoberfest with an authentic German meal at Brauhaus Schmitz, one of the top Bavarian beer halls in the mid-Atlantic region. Honorary Austrian Consul Harry Schaub (pictured at right, standing, next to Philadelphia chapter coordinator Jane Berryman) was the guest speaker, addressing exactly what a consul does, how consuls differ from ambassadors, how one becomes appointed, and how their role through history has changed. The Consul – a Pennsylvania native who was educated at the University of Pennsylvania and Yale Law – will soon relinquish his role to a new appointee and was making one of his last public appearances as Austria’s official representative in the Commonwealth.

The next meeting of the chapter will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 5 p.m. at Shiroi Hana, a popular and enduring Japanese restaurant at 225 south 15th Street in the Rittenhouse Square district. Our guest speaker for that meeting will be Amber Lauletta, founder of Cinematheque, Philadelphia’s first-ever cinema devoted exclusively to screening and educating the public about French film. Please RSVP to Jane Berryman, chapter coordinator, no later than January 13th, 2012 at jane.berryman@raymondjames.com
