The TCC UK held its autumn meeting over the weekend of 16-18 September in Granada, Spain. Our small group of travellers arrived from the UK, Ireland and the Czech Republic. Members gathered on Friday evening beside the terrace of the Hotel Alhambra Palace, where we enjoyed stunning views of the city. We decided to walk to a nearby Plaza, where we enjoyed a variety of tapas and rioja al fresco in the late summer atmosphere.
On Saturday morning, our group travelled to the Alhambra Palace, where we spent more than three hours on an informative tour of the historical venue, again benefiting from the late summer weather. After a well earned siesta, we reconvened for a quick walk around some of Granada’s most prominent cathedrals and squares before gathering for a traditional Spanish meal by the river with a view of the lit Palace.
Our group went in several directions on Sunday morning. Some travelled to the Spanish coast, enjoying the beach. Others travelled to Majorca. A small group took the train from Granada to Algeciras, where we made the crossing to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on the North African coast, passing in sight of Gibraltar.
Our next TCC UK meeting will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the RAC, Pall Mall, London. We hope to see a large turnout, and as always, invite TCC members from around the world if they find themselves in London at the time.
