St. Louis TCC Chapter Lunch Planned for Nov. 16 in Chesterfield

The St. Louis TCC Chapter had another excellent meeting on Saturday, May 14, in which we had 24 attendees. TCC members were joined by several members of the International Travel Club of S. Louis who are potential TCC members. Also attending was Kevin Hughes, former president of the Travelers Century Club.

The activities began with an enjoyable lunch at the Edgewild Restaurant in Chesterfield, Missouri. Members introduced themselves and exchanged travel anecdotes.

After lunch we heard a presentation by Professor Mike Wood, for many years a professor at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, on the environmental crime of rhinoceros poaching. From his many trips to South Africa, he reported that despite the bad news, there is at least one example of an anti-poaching success: the Black Mambas, a group of Zulu women who are an unarmed, para-military force that patrols in Kruger National Park.

The next meeting will be on Saturday, Nov. 12 (instead of the 5th),  from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Edgewild Restaurant in & Winery (Chesterfield Mall, 550 Chesterfield Center, Chesterfield, MO 63017, tel. 636-532-0550). The program will be by Gig Gwin of of Gwins Travel in St Louis. who in September 1999 became a TCC Lifetime Member and “most traveled travel agent in the world” by completing the TCC list. Gig will speak on “New Trends in the Travel Industry.” RSVP to Charles Merkel, tccstl@yahoo.com, tel. (314-644-7797).
