Arkansas Chapter Mourns the Passing of Anna Asiatidou Clift

The TCC is saddened to report the unexpected passing of our Arkansas co-coordinator, Anna Asiatidou Clift.

Born in Athens, Greece, she worked for Olympic Airways, and met her husband Steve on a flight to Egypt in 1973. They continued to correspond – Anna with her newly learned English; Steve from Arkansas – eventually enjoying a 43-year marriage.

A member of both the TCC and the Explorers Club, her favorite trips were to Ethiopia and Bhutan. In 1992 she became the first Greek woman to reach the North Pole at 90-degrees north.

The board extends its heartfelt sympathy to her husband Steve Clift and their family.

The fall 2016 Arkansas Chapter meeting will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, at noon at Samantha’s Tap Room & Wood Grill in downtown Little Rock. The topic will be “Regrets – I have a few” – borrowing from Sinatra, as Dolena points out. She is sure everyone has more than one destination they have regrets about missing. Dolena will in fact run the function in my absence – as in the good ol’ days. Please try to attend to commemorate what would have been Dolena and Walter‘s 50th wedding anniversary.

I will be on a Himalayan helicopter/trekking expedition with my son – side trip to India – again. So as to not have any “regrets.” Our last meeting’s discussion was “Random Acts of Kindness Extended Abroad.” It was was inspirational. Always keen for new topics.
