Hello World Travelers,

I am pleased to report that at our September meeting we had a terrific turnout, informative, passionate guest speakers, a new member officially receiving his 100 country pin, the presentation of a 150 country pin to one of our own, and some hilarious “creepy crawler” stories!

Carol Stevenson hit a huge milestone in logging her 150th TCC country/territory in 2016.

Sam Blyth, Chairman of the Bhutan Canada Foundation and Honorary Consul of Bhutan to Canada, and Andrea Geddes Poole, Executive Director of the Bhutan Canada Foundation, gave us some fascinating insights into the Kingdom of Bhutan and the strong ties, particularly through education, that exist with our country, Canada.

Philip Tanner recently achieved 100 country status and we officially welcomed him as a member with his daughter in attendance cheering him on. Carol Stevenson hit a huge milestone in a short period of time, logging her 150th TCC country/territory in 2016.

Members exchanged crazy stories about encounters in various country visits with creepy crawlers: giant toads in Belize, driver ants in the Congo, giant spiders on Lord Howe Island, scorpions on Easter island,  and snakes in Thailand, to name a few.

BTW … sharing a favorite travel quote with you:

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure.
There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.”

Jawaharlal Nehru
Our next meeting will be on Dec. 10 with the Consul General to Canada from Sri Lanka joining us at keynote speaker. More details will follow.

Happy travels everyone!

Warm regards,

Rick Shaver, Eastern Canada Chapter Coordinator
