Germany Chapter Update, With Information About the September Meeting in Wuerzburg

Dear TCC Members of Europe,

Hopefully, all of you had a good start in the new year 2017!

This is to inform you all about some activities of the TCC going on in Europe in the new year, including the first announcement of the annual German meeting, which will be held in the city of Wuerzburg on Sept. 2, 2017. Since many of you may not belong to a national TCC chapter, everybody is of course welcome to join in!

1. In case you would like to join our meeting in 2017, taking place in the traditional Hotel Walfisch at the river-Main promenade, please be informed about a special deal the Hotel Walfisch offers for members of this group: From Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, until Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, the hotel holds rooms for the price of 98,- Euro (single occupancy) or 149.- Euro (double occupancy), excluding breakfast (buffet available for 12.50 Euro per person per day), until July 1, 2017! Please book individually and mention that you are with TCC. Hotel details: Hotel Walfisch, Am Pleidenturm 5, 97070 Wuerzburg, Germany, Phone: +49-931-35200, Fax: +49-931-3520500, E-mail: walfisch@hotel-walfisch.com.

In addition, I would ask you to transfer to my bank account 50.- Euro per attending person well in advance, so I can pay the hotel for the meeting room (please contact me for bank account information). Lunch is of course included. Please remember that I have already signed the contract!

As always, you are very welcome to send me a suggestion for your oral presentation (e.g. PowerPoint). I will send out a preliminary meeting programme later in the year when I collected a few presentation topics.

Besides, I would like to ask my family doctor and his wife to participate in the meeting, who have both visited well over 100 countries but are not members as yet, and they could give a presentation on either working as a doctor in Bangladesh or touring Franz-Josef Land in the High Arctic. Please give me your opinion on what you would like to learn about.

After the meeting, we will go to a nice restaurant together (plenty of choice in Wuerzburg, the Medieval City) and celebrate a “social evening.” Stephan Behriger, a Wuerzburg resident, will also try to get us into the famous Wuerzburg Residence, maybe even for a wine degustation! For the Friday and/or Sunday, there is no official sightseeing programme planned, but Stephan as well as my wife Anja and I (knowing a fair bit of the city) will be helpful to make the most out of your stay!

2. In spring 2017, the UK Xhapter will meet in London and invited all of us to attend as well. I already confirmed my participation in this. See details on the United Kingdom Chapter page »

3. And, finally, a general question to all who want to be regularly informed about travel-related topics: Our club’s Liaison Manager in the U.S., Kevin Hughes, is spreading various travel news by e-mail under the label “TCC Vignette.” E-mails keep coming from “almost every day” to “every two weeks.” If there is any interest, I would volunteer to pass on these e-mails (in intervals meeting my convenience) to a European mailing list comprising all of you who explicitely tell me they wanted to be included. Please advise!

If you do not want to get the “TCC Vignette,” you do not have to do anything. Also, if you do not want to be included in this mailing list, please drop me a quick note and I will delete your e-mail address accordingly!

That is enough to muse on for the moment; happy travels to all of you!
