Barry is a renowned traveler who has visited almost every country in the world.
While mingling with the crowd, and in a short talk, Barry will discuss how he found that the world has far more depth and complexity than headlines suggest. From war zones to mountaintops, refugee camps to ancient ruins, he met people whose kindness and openness gave meaning to his life.
In his book Belonging to the World, Barry writes about his experiences after the loss of his wife and travel partner, Jackie, in a sudden tragedy.
Barry Hoffner is the founder and executive director of Caravan to Class, a foundation that brings access to education for youth in West Africa.
The foundation’s anchor program, Bourse Jackie scholarships for young women, is named in honor of his late wife.
Barry resides in Sausalito, CA, and has two adult children, Benjamin and Daniel.
