The October meeting of the Northeast Florida/Southeast Georgia TCC Chapter in Ponte Vedra featured a presentation by Susan Rosenberry, “A Short Visit to the World’s Remotest Inhabited Island – Tristan de Cunha.” This was well received, and participants enjoyed our new venue as well. As always, our chapter members reported on lots of active travel over the summer. Interestingly, many of the recent itineraries were focused on the Balkan countries and Mediterranean islands such as Corsica and Sardinia. And we also welcomed several visitors and potential new members including Ronald Bergwerk who is a UN Grand Master, and Richard and Nikki Davies who have been on three world cruises and other extensive travel.
Our Dec. 15 meeting will be held in the hospitality room of our Cambria condo building in the private gated community of Hammock Dunes in Palm Coast. This will be a special holiday lunch meeting beginning at 11:30 a.m. that we hope everyone will enjoy and participate in.
Since this is a private community, anyone who is not a resident must go through a security gate and give their name and reason for entrance. So it is important that everyone planning on coming to the meeting gives me their names in advance so I can submit the registration list to the security gate(s) so that this will make your entrance go smoothly. RSVP to crus.sun@gmail.com for full details and directions.
Since this is obviously not a restaurant location as our other meetings have been, we will have an alternate, but fun, selection of food and beverages for lunch. For beverages, we will be providing an assortment of complimentary soft
drinks and water. For the main course we will share our favorite Greek Lemon Chicken and Potatoes. For other courses and dessert we are inviting everyone to bring their favorite dish from another country. (This is optional and small portions are fine, and you can let me know what you plan to bring.)
In the spirit and fun of the holiday season, we are also inviting everyone to bring in a favorite holiday ornament or decoration for show and tell that you acquired in a different country.
And of course we’ll also be having at least one travel presentation and the much loved sharing of everyone’s recent and future travel escapades.
We hope to see many of you in December!
Susan Rosenberry
Northeast Florida/Southeast Florida Chapter Coordinator
