Colorado Chapter Update: January and April Meetings Held in Denver

The first 2018 meeting of the Colorado TCC Chapter was held on Jan. 18 at the Imperial Chinese Restaurant in Denver. Richard Lion presented photos from his trip to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, cities at the juncture of the old Silk Road. Fifteen attendees heard about these cities that were prosperous, powerful centers of learning and culture, with stunning architecture and World Heritage sites.

On April 19, 21 people attended the second meeting, again at the Imperial. We were unable to have the talk on Israel as previously scheduled, but will have it at a future meeting. Phyllis McGuire talked about her recent trip in Sudan that included the capital, Khartoum, Kushite temple ruins, Meroitic pyramids, and frescoes from Christian Nubia.

We will celebrate our 29th birthday as a TCC Chapter on July 19, and give tribute to Bonnie O’Leary, chapter founder and coordinator for the first 25 years. Bonnie passed away in January of this year, and we miss her.
