Area Coordinator Profile: Lillian O’Leary, West Florida

Southwest Florida Area Coordinator Lillian O'Leary
West Florida Area Coordinator Lillian O’Leary

Lillian O’Leary was born in New York City and attended schools there. She received a BS and MS, with a major in history and education, from Fordham University. In NYC she taught students spanning the three-year-olds in a Head Start program to those in high school. She has also taught some graduate courses.

She ran for the U.S. Congress and enjoyed that experience. On retirement Lillian and her husband, Neil, relocated to Syracuse, FL, where they currently reside.

Lillian had an interest in travel early and went to Europe during college breaks. She has traveled to 166 TCC countries. The count would be higher, she says, but she and her husband keep returning to places they enjoy such as Italy, Hong Kong and England.

They love taking cruises, having been at sea over 780 days on some 59 voyages. They usually take cruises of at least 30 days. Their favorite was on The World of Residences and they plan to sail on her again this summer. This April they are booked on a 58-day Asian/African cruise. They have reserved a China river cruise in 2013.

They also enjoy land tours where they can spend a good deal of time exploring local sites and savor the history of the location.
