I am delighted to share some exciting news with you regarding a couple of really interesting gentlemen who will be joining us for our upcoming TCC Canada Chapter meetings:

First, on June 2, 2012 please join us to hear writer, advertising guy and fellow traveler Randy VanDerStarren as he takes us on his action-packed journey to exotic destinations around the globe while creating an international television series for MSNBC.
Randy’s theme will be: Two years, 14 circumnavigations of the globe, thirty three episodes; one lucky man’s behind-the-camera perspective of our incredible planet.

Second for our Sept. 8 2012 meeting we are also very fortunate that Jim Byers, the Toronto Star‘s Travel Editor has agreed to be our speaker.

Jim will give us some behind-the-scenes insights on how he leads his team at Canada’s largest daily newspaper to produce their award winning travel section every week. Jim will also provide us with some informal perspectives on some of his destinations around the world.

Jim Byers
Jim Byers of the Toronto Star

He has been writing travel stories for more than a decade, covered five Olympic Games and spent years covering the Blue Jays, the Toronto Raptors and the PGA Tour. He’s been everywhere from Bonavista to Vancouver Island, as well as China, Hong Kong, Australia, the Caribbean, Thailand, Mexico, Tahiti, New Zealand, Vietnam, a dozen countries in Europe and just about every major city in the U.S.

Some of you might remember Randy from our first Canadian meeting in November 2010 which he attended as a provisional TCC member.

Both the June 2 and Sept. 8 TCC Canada meetings will take place at 12 noon at 544 King Street West in Toronto. As those of you know from our previous two meetings, it is easy to get to: One block west of Spadina Ave. on King St. West. Across the street is a Starbucks with lots of parking spaces. The name on the building is “The Hive,” which is the name of my company. We have a big spacious boardroom with a big flat-screen TV for our presentation.

Please RSVP your June 2 attendance at your earliest convenience to me (rshaver@thehiveinc.com) so we can plan the lunch requirements (Spanish tapas – and a nominal contribution from all attendees).

I trust you are as excited as I am to regroup to share our common passion for world travel.
