Hello World Travelers,
Our next TCC Eastern Canada meeting, our second of 2015, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, at noon at The Hive office (544 King St. West in Toronto).
As usual, we will arrange for a light lunch with a nominal charge. Please RSVP your attendance to me in the immediate future so we can plan refreshments accordingly.
I’m pleased to announce that our feature speaker is none other than our own Joseph Lee! The theme of Joseph’s talk will be “Memories of an African Overland Adventure – When I was Young and Foolish.”
From March 1986 to January 1988, Joseph travelled overland from Tunis to Cape Town on a “shoestring” budget, hitchhiking and staying/eating in very local places. It was a true adventure: he was mugged, arrested, jailed, got malaria, was charged by an elephant, and ignored a state of emergency in apartheid South Africa. After his 22 months of travel through 24 countries, he couldn’t afford the airfare home, so he crewed on a sailboat across the Atlantic … but that he says … is another story!
Join us on the 12th for Joseph’s excellent African Adventure!
Also, for the fun/favorite interactive part of our meeting … members come prepared to share an interesting travel story with the group based on the following: Tell us about the most unique place or accommodations you have spent a night. Could be a hotel, private residence, moving vehicle/boat of some kind, or under the stars! Tell us about the experience with any props or pictures you wish!
Look forward to seeing everyone, and don’t forget to RSVP your attendance!
Warm Regards
—Rick Shaver, Eastern Canada Chapter Coordinator
