Although there are several TCC members in Hong Kong and Taiwan, the first member from Mainland China was Arthur Zhang from Shanghai, who became a member during the TCC 60th Anniversary cruise to Mexico in October 2014. A few more Chinese members have since been added.
Arthur would like to form a TCC chapter in China, with him as the area coordinator. His reason — “Now in China people live a better life with growing affluence, and they are starting to change from material pursuits to high grade spiritual pursuits, so world travel becomes an option. Many more consciously choose and are able to visit more places globally, but lack professional organizations and resources.”
He said they would like to join a club like TCC “where they can communicate and help each other.” He would like to share the responsibility of “promoting the world travel concept and the philosophy of our club to more people in China.”
The TCC Board will consider. New President Gloria McCoy hopes to visit with Arthur when she is in Beijing in April — on her way to run the Pyongyang Marathon. (Kansas City Coordinator Steve Fuller will also participate in the North Korean Marathon.)
