The Philadelphia TCC Chapter met on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Feasterville, Pennsylvania’s famed Samarkand restaurant, for a purely social meeting of great food, live music, belly dancers, and some TCC members showing off their moves on the dance floor. Thanks for George and Jill Kyle and Lion and Donna Curran for suggesting this lively venue for our final meeting of 2016.
Looking ahead to our meeting schedule for 2017, it’s as follows:
- Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017 at 5 p.m. – Indonesia Restaurant at 18th and Snyder, South Philadelphia; we shall indulge in rijsttafel (Indonesian rice table).
- Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 5 p.m. – Catahoula Bar & Restaurant at Front and Christian Streets, Queen Village; Creole & Cajun cuisine. If the weather is comfortable, we can dine outside.
- Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 at 5 p.m. – Wah-Gi-Wah Restaurant, 4447 Chestnut Street in University City, Philadelphia; Pakistani cuisine.
Our guest speakers next year (order TBA) will include Audrey Allen, one of the region’s leading immigration attorneys; Lisa Woods, a managing director at KPMG who was the first Jewish female to serve as a consultant to the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia; and representatives from local microfinance organization WIL. More details will be forthcoming.
