The Philadelphia Chapter met on Sunday, Sept. 30, at Korean-Jamaican fusion restaurant The Spicy Belly in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. As usual, the food was delicious and the conversation was sparkling. The 12 chapter members in attendance dined on bibimbap, soju cocktails and other special dishes while listening to Melinda Son of CAGE, a local nonprofit catering to the Cambodian community. We enjoyed having her as our guest. In addition, new chapter member Rebecca Tillet was welcomed to the fold.
Looking ahead to 2019, our meeting schedule will be as follows:
- Sunday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m.: Malbec, Argentine steakhouse on Head House Square, Philadelphia with Dr. Karolynn Echols as guest speaker, who will discuss her medical missions to Africa and the Caribbean.
- Sunday, May 19 at 5 p.m.: Usaquen, Colombian café in South Kensington section of Philadelphia with helicopter pilot Roger Woods as our guest speaker (tentative). Woods, a former RAF pilot, recently completed a helicopter trip from Colombia to Miami which he will discuss with us.
- Sunday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.: Café Lava, Eastern European cuisine in the Somerton section of Philadelphia. Guest speaker TBA.
As usual, firm RSVPs are expected no less than ONE WEEK in advance of our stated meeting dates by emailing the chapter coordinator at jane.berryman1735@hushmail.com.
