Hello World Travelers,
Delighted to report that we had our largest Eastern Canada Chapter gathering ever in downtown Toronto on Sept. 14 with 30 people in attendance. Several out-of-town guests were with us including Charles Merkel – TCC Chapter Coordinator from St. Louis, new TCC member Terry Suero from Buffalo, New York, and Richard Foltz from Montreal who introduced us to his new book, The History Of The Tajiks.
With several new members in attendance, we visited the TCC Web site and reviewed the range of page resources for members, including the TCC Forum, which members were encouraged to sign up for. Also, reminders were given for folks to attend the next International Meeting – Spring 2021 in Valletta, Malta.
Our featured speaker Phil Maher’s presentation theme was “Close Encounters With The Third World.” We were treated to a fascinating take on world travel. As a twenty-year veteran aid worker, Phil worked for World Vision and the World Food Program and was “first boots on the ground” wherever world crisis occurred in places like Afghanistan, East Timor, Somalia, Sudan and Rwanda. His presentation was an incredible look at the critically important humanitarian work done to help people in crisis resulting from tsunamis, earthquakes, cyclones and civil strife around the world.
Our next Meeting is Dec. 14.
Warm regards and happy travels.
