Almost 30 Northern California members and guests gathered at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco on Saturday, Oct. 4. This was the first in-person meeting for the NorCal Chapter since March 2020. We delighted in the camaraderie of our members while enjoying a great presentation by husband and wife team Jack Mormon and Nancy Webb.
Jack and Nancy shared with us their 2015 touring experience across the countries of Southern Africa via the Shongololo Express. Trains are an exciting way to add five countries to a country count. It’s a land cruise, by train instead of ship, with meals and tours included. Tours were on Mercedes Sprinters that travel on the train along with passengers and crew. We learned about life on the train as well as the land travel, safaris, monuments, and local life.
The next chapter lunch will be at Trader Vic’s in Emeryville on Saturday, Dec. 4.
