The Southwest Florida Sarasota chapter met for lunch on Feb. 1 to celebrate Lunar New Year. Given the holiday and upcoming Winter Olympics, the theme was The People’s Republic of China. Member Tom Gregory presented on a train trip he took following a silk road route through the Hexi Corridor and the Taklamakan desert in western China. The group shared stories and experiences from times living in and visiting the country. Decorations and treats were supplied by Jill Melkonian.
