After a three-year COVID-related hiatus, Charter Chapter TCC members returned to our traditional June meeting site at the historic Tam O’Shanter Inn in Los Angeles, where we also celebrated the restaurant’s 100th birthday.
Some 35 travelers assembled (including six guests and a member attending for the first time) as we dined where Walt Disney and his Imagineers met for lunch and cowboy movie star Tom Mix rode down the hill with his crew and tied up their horses following film shoots in nearby Griffith Park.
But on this date, we honored two well-traveled members, Iris and Victor Antola who received pins and certificates from President Steve Fuller for recently visiting their 200th TCC destination—the Cape Verde Islands.
Frequent presenters Diana and Dennis Trombley offered a fascinating program, “The Many Marvels of Madagascar,” which highlighted indigenous people, sacred tombs, geologic wonders and the adorable lemurs they encountered on their month-long adventure.
