The Pennsylvania TCC Chapter’s final meeting of 2022 was held on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Ralph’s Italian restaurant in South Philly, the nation’s oldest. The attendees braved a heavy rainstorm, high winds and flash flooding to attend. Luckily the meal was more than worth it. While we dined on meatballs, veal chop, chicken piccata, wilted escarole with garlic, oven-warm Italian bread, tiramisu, cannoli and abundant glasses of Chianti Classico and Prosecco, the conversation flowed. It was good to convene in a busy and bustling indoor space again!
Joining us via Zoom was retired Canadian Ambassador to Thailand, Mongolia and South Africa, Greg Goldhawk, who shared some very amusing stories from his 36 years abroad in service to his country. We appreciate his willingness to spend half an hour chatting with our membership. It was a fun presentation.
Looking ahead to 2023, our meeting dates and programs will continue to be held on Sundays at 5 p.m. on the following days:
- Jan. 29 — The Black Squirrel, a gastropub in East Falls; presentation will be on the Great Loop by two Philly residents who recently completed this challenging year-long sailing adventure.
- May 21 — The Pennsylvania Chapter’s 15-year anniversary dinner at Suraya, a Lebanese restaurant in Fishtown. Guest of honor TBA.
- Sept. 24 — Barcelona, a Spanish tapas restaurant in Passyunk Square; presentation by University of Pennsylvania Fine Arts professor and Cuban émigré Gabriel Martinez.
The Coordinator requests RSVPs for meeting attendance at least one week in advance of the meeting dates.
