The TCC Charter Chapter (Los Angeles/Orange County) gathered for its Annual International Holiday Luncheon at the festively-decorated Lawry’s The Prime Rib Restaurant in Beverly Hills on Dec. 10, 2022.
And indeed it was an international event with TCC members from Ireland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Missouri, Virginia and Northern California joining our local members to create a celebratory crowd of 66 (including 14 guests and five new members).
The highlight of the afternoon was honoring David Langan who traveled from Dublin, Ireland, to receive the coveted World Traveler Award (and solar-powered revolving globe) in recognition of his recent completion of the list of all 330 TCC Countries and Territories (his final destination was Laos in November).
Other honorees were Diamond Level achiever (300 destinations) Odette Ricasa and Silver Level awardees (150 countries) Peter Narins, Kathleen Beebe and George Beebe.
We also recognized and honored Immediate Past President Tim Skeet who led us during the difficult and challenging time of COVID-19 restrictions in 2020/2021. He, too, received a solar-powered globe, presented by President Steve Fuller.
Charter Chapter Coordinator Michael Sholer called back honoree Langan who presented a fascinating program “Travel and Postcards: TCC From 1 to 330” which highlighted some of his amusing and bizarre tales from around the globe as he collected and mailed travel postcards on his quest to visit each of our “countries and territories.”
