The Northern California TCC Chapter will meet on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco. Social time will begin at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at noon. The address is 599 Railroad Ave.,
South San Francisco, CA 94080, and parking is free.
The event will feature a presentation on Bolivia by speakers Tom Hixson and his husband, Kevin Sarmento, who have shared a passion for travel since youth. Kevin attended the University of Aberdeen in Scotland while Tom joined the Peace Corps serving in Colombia after college, and these early travel experiences ignited their interest in travel. They later lived and worked in San Francisco, Kevin with Levi’s and Tom in commercial real-estate (following a career as an English professor at numerous colleges and universities). They moved to Napa in 2018 and restored an 1871 Victorian house and have managed to step up their travel despite COVID and the agonies associated with home remodeling. Bolivia was a recent favorite destination and they’re excited to share those experiences with TCC!
We celebrated Kevin at our NorCal luncheon in June as he visited his 100th country and, thus, became a TCC member.
