Upcoming Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana Events Include ‘P/Q’ Picture Zoom and a Presentation on Easter Island

Members were excited to learn more about Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi at the Lakewood Yacht Club.

On a November afternoon last year, 23 Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana TCC Chapter members and guests met at the Lakewood Yacht Club to hear David Eickhoff present his recent trip to Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi. Topics included gorilla hiking in Uganda, watching the Royal Drummers of Burundi, and visiting the pygmy villages of Uganda. Mark Russell showed contrasting pictures of himself hiking in Rwanda with Linda Abraham Silver and Sylvia Hanna Russell. Also shown were pictures in Kenya of feeding giraffes and Karen Blixen’s home.

Our “P/Q” alphabet world picture zoom will be on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m. Central Time. We thank everyone who has already sent in “P/Q” photos. If you want to share a screen, please let us know. Qatar is the only country that starts with a Q.

We will be sending information out soon about National Geographic expert Terry Hunt‘s talk about Easter Island on March 28 at 3:30 p.m. at the Perot Museum in Dallas. He solved the mystery of how their creators moved the very large statues and has recently led two tours of Perot members to Easter Island. We encourage our Dallas, Austin, and Oklahoma members to attend.

May your next trip be the best ever!
