For our seventh meeting of 2026, the Southeast Florida TCC Chapter had its monthly meeting in Cuenca, Ecuador. We enjoyed the beautiful rooftop restaurant of the Itza Hotel in El Centro, the historical center of Cuenco, with magnificent views of the New Cathedral with its iconic Blue Domes and delicious Ecuadoran foods.
A total of 11 members attended this meeting. For most it was their first visit to Cuenca, and several members came in advance of the meeting to explore the rich history and culture of Cuenca. Several members traveled onward to the Galapagos after the meeting. Other members visited Quito also on their travels.
It was our first meeting held outside of Southeastern Florida, and we may have additional meeting in other locations in the future.
Chapter Coordinator Anush Dawidjan had made seven trips to Cuenca in the past three years to escape the South Florida heat and had fallen in love with this beautiful colonial city. After hearing many of her Cuenca travel stories, a decision was made to hold our July 2026 meeting in Cuenca. The group totally enjoyed springlike temps and an UNESCO historical city.
Cuenca is definitely a hidden gem of South America.
