The Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio TCC Chapter spent a day exploring Frankfort, Kentucky, with stops downtown, a riverboat bourbon tour, and opportunities to learn about the area’s history. Members also attended the Japan Festival, hosted by the Japan/America Society of Kentucky. Their time in Central Kentucky continued with a visit to a horse farm and a meal at Holly Hill Inn in Midway.
Louisville residents Eileen and Bernie Strenecky, who organized the visit, said one of the highlights was watching seasoned travelers discover how much Frankfort offers within a compact community. What members really enjoyed about Frankfort was the variety. In a relatively small area, they experienced Kentucky history, bourbon, the river, downtown and the Japan Festival.
Members’ comments reflected that variety, with many noting the city’s history and architecture, the Kentucky River, and the range of attractions concentrated in a small area.
For Marty Tarazi of the Chicago area, the Kentucky trip included his first bourbon tour and first visit to a horse farm. Tarazi and his wife reached their 100th Travelers’ Century Club destination last year with a trip to Brazil, and have now visited 108.
