Hello World Travelers,
Happy to report that we had a keen turn out for our September meeting, both in person and via Zoom, chronicling a fascinating African experience.
Warm congrats and thanks to Heather Watts for sharing her epic Democratic Republic of Congo adventure, which not only entailed spending rare visits with the little-known Bonobo great apes in Lomako National Park, but also saw her enduring the challenging voyage there and back — 1,800 kilometers by dugout canoe to see them.
Also, part of Heather’s adventure was unpredictable weather which included a massive storm when her tent (with her inside) was flattened by a log structure. She luckily survived it all and was able to share some fascinating experiences with the Bonobo great apes.
Heather shared some wonderful pictures of the Bonobos — one of Africa’s most challenging great apes to locate and photograph.
The next Canada Chapter meeting will be on Saturday, Dec. 5. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement regarding a special guest speaker for our December meeting.
Warm regards,
Rick Shaver
TCC Canada Chapter Coordinator
