By Tim Skeet, Past TCC President
The greatest TCC benefit is the opportunity to meet genuine people in this wonderful travel fraternity and New Zealand member David Horne was standout and those who knew him would agree.
The Oceania chapter grieves the loss of David who passed away in March at the age of 81. Coordinator Robyn Antill shared David’s eulogy with me, and he was described by his community as an educator, traveler and faithful Christian. Sometimes, he’d combine all three by teaching Sunday parishioners about his latest adventures.
As a Diamond member, club members were captivated by David’s travel accomplishment, but it was his club involvement which endeared him to club members. He would swoop into Los Angeles for a day to attend the TCC holiday luncheon every 1-2 years. He would charm everyone with his incredible stories and then fly back home to Dunedin all in the space of 24 hours.
Our club lost a magnificent man to whom I had the privilege of knowing and we will remember his gentle spirit.
