The Northern California TCC Chapter will meet on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Skates on the Bay, a waterfront seafood restaurant at the Berkeley Marina. Social hour will begin at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at noon. The address is 100 Seawall Drive, Berkeley, CA 94710; parking is free.
The speaker will be Sam Wilson, a retired accountant who first heard of the TCC through past member Stewart Karlinsky, while taking his Corporate Tax class at San Jose State University. Sam remembers thinking, “100 countries, that’s a lot!” In addition to working on his country count, Sam enjoys hiking, backpacking, and visiting family in Austin.
Sam’s presentation is about a hotel-to-hotel hike through the Gorges of Verdon in southern France, which he and his travel companion, Celia Woodfill, took in 2018. The presentation will discuss:
- Sentiers de Grande Randonnée (GR), the national long trails in France
- The company Sentiers de France and the organization of the trip
- Pictures of the Gorges of Verdon and the accommodations
- Closing thoughts regarding both the practical and inspirational elements of the trip
RSVPs with payment must be received by mail by Nov. 29. The cost is $49 per person, with a choice of prime rib steak sandwich, turkey club sandwich, salmon poke bowl (served as a salad), or vegetarian risotto. Contact Chapter Coordinator Tim Carlson (timjeana@sbcglobal.net) for details about where to send payment.
