Whether or not you’re a food-focused traveler, eating is one of those few activities that we all ultimately share. Yet what is published in English-language media often gives short shrift to the breadth of edible adventures that await. That’s why we invite you on a culinary journey, one that doesn’t so much ignore restaurants as it does inspire you to set those menus aside.
Jonathan DeLise is originally from the NYC area, though he’s also lived in various cities in East Asia, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. Through his small YouTube channel @findingfoodfluency, he has covered a wide variety of foods and food culture. Language study is one of his hobbies, and a pivotal reason for this is to decipher menus. His dream title would be Fluent Eater.
TCC Book Club “PreSeason Exhibition” Breakout Room!
After the Virtual Exploration presentation, a breakout room will be dedicated to the second meeting of the TCC Book Club and feature TCC member Bob Payne’s fascinating book Escape Clauses. The Inaugural Meeting of the TCC Book Club will follow the Feb. 17 VE meeting as planned, with a discussion of Osa Johnson’s book I Married Adventure.

David A. Andelman is a global affairs columnist for CNN and, most recently, creator of the SubStack page, Andelman Unleashed. He began his career as a correspondent for The New York Times in SE Asia and Eastern Europe, then served as Paris correspondent for CBS News. He was later an executive editor of Forbes, editor & publisher of World Policy Journal. He is the author of five books, the most recent being A Red Line in the Sand: Diplomacy, Strategy and the History of Wars that Might Still Happen. He served as president of the Overseas Press Club of America, has reported from more than 90 countries on five continents, and is a chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest civilian decoration.
